Margaux De Brane Margaux 2022
Margaux de Brane Margaux 2022 is the elegant second wine of the prestigious Château Brane-Cantenac, showcasing the finesse, balance, and aromatic complexity for which the Margaux appellation is celebrated. Crafted from carefully selected parcels and aged with the same care as the Grand Vin, this Bordeaux red offers immediate approachability while reflecting the estate’s signature style.
Tasting Notes
Margaux de Brane is a wine for pleasure, and its tasting bears witness to this. It has a deep, brilliant purple colour. The initial nose is dominated by notes of black fruit such as blackberry and blackcurrant. It is enriched by finely toasted and roasted aromas and hints of red fruit. From the outset, the wine is very round on the palate. It is balanced, full-bodied and fleshy. The smooth finish lengthens the silky, unctuous tannic structure.
Appearance: Deep ruby with purple highlights.
Nose: Fragrant aromas of ripe red berries, blackcurrant, and plum are layered with floral hints of violet, subtle cedar, and a touch of baking spice.
Palate: Silky and refined, the palate reveals juicy blackberry, red cherry, and cassis, framed by fine-grained tannins and lifted by fresh acidity. Gentle oak integration adds notes of vanilla, mocha, and soft spice.
Finish: Elegant and persistent, with lingering fruit and a whisper of minerality.
Food Pairing: A versatile companion to roast duck, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses.
Margaux de Brane Margaux 2022 captures the charm of Margaux in a graceful, approachable wine - perfect for enjoying now or cellaring for a few years to reveal even greater complexity.
Chateau Brane-Cantenac
Château Brane-Cantenac is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux wine region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The estate also produces a second wine named Baron de Brane, a label named Château Notton, and a generic Margaux.
History
The origins of Brane-Cantenac date back over 250 years. Known as “Hostein” in the 18th century, this great wine estate was bought by the Gorce family, and produced one of the Medoc’s most renowned wines long before the 1855 classification. The name of the second wine, Baron de Brane, pays hommage to the famous Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, the “Napoléon des Vignes”, owner of the property in the 19th Century. For the past 4 generations, the Lurton family has been at the helm; they are devoted stewards who continue to ensure that the property flourishes, producing wines of the greatest quality. Since 1992, Henri Lurton has continued the journey that his father and ancestors began. Although a proponent of innovation and new technology, Henri is careful never to lose sight of the traditional values that remain an inherent part of Brane’s identity. Above all, he is proud of the unique terroir, and recognizes the need to treat the soil, vines, and grapes with immense respect.
